The Hidden Self
The Hidden Self
In a world that constantly asks us to adjust, adapt, and conform, the question arises: How much of ourselves remains truly ours?
“The Hidden Self” is a visual reflection on identity and individuality. The fingerprint—unique to every human—stands as a powerful symbol of the self we are born with. At the center of the artwork, the warm, skin-toned colors represent this original self: pure, unaltered, and authentic.
As the fingerprint expands outward, the colors begin to change. The tones grow darker, heavier, and more varied. These outer layers represent the opinions of others—society, family, expectations, judgments, and comparisons. Over time, these external voices shape us, influence us, and sometimes slowly cover the truth of who we really are.
Many of us don’t realize when we begin changing ourselves to fit into spaces that demand approval. The lines remain connected, just as our core identity never truly disappears, but it often becomes hidden beneath layers of adaptation.
“The Hidden Self” is a reminder. A reminder to pause, reflect, and reconnect with the center—to remember who we were before the noise grew loud. No matter how many layers are added, the true self still exists, waiting to be acknowledged.
In embracing our individuality, we reclaim our fingerprint—not as the world defines it, but as we do.
