Can You Follow Your Passion Without Guilt?

Have you ever been at that stage in life where you want to become a full-time artist… but something inside you hesitates?

Not because you don’t love art.
Not because you don’t believe in yourself.

But because of things like stability, income, and family.

I think many artists quietly go through this phase.

There’s this strong passion inside us that wants to create, explore, and live a life around art. At the same time, there’s another voice reminding us about responsibilities , the need for stability, the need to earn, the need to build a secure future.

And sometimes those two voices don’t agree with each other.

People around us often suggest the safer path.
A stable job. A corporate career. Something predictable.

But somewhere deep inside, we start feeling something else - guilt.

Guilt for wanting to follow our passion.
Guilt for thinking about art when life asks us to be practical.

It’s a strange feeling… wanting something so deeply, yet feeling unsure if it’s the right thing to choose.

I’ve been in that stage too , the moment where I had to think about which path to choose. Passion or stability.

That feeling stayed with me so strongly that I even created a painting about it.

Right now, I’m trying to find a stable job related to my skills, because the reality is simple: we all need money to live. Life requires it.

But at the same time, I’m learning something important.

Choosing stability doesn’t mean abandoning passion.

Sometimes it just means we’re taking a different route to reach it.

Maybe the journey of an artist isn’t always direct.
Maybe sometimes it looks like balancing two worlds for a while.

Because following your passion doesn’t always mean rushing into it without thinking.

Sometimes it means building stability first — so one day you can follow it without guilt.

And even if our path takes time, the passion for art won’t disappear.

It just waits for us to return to it.

Have you ever felt stuck between following your passion and choosing stability?

I turned those emotions into a painting. In my next post, I’ll share that artwork and the story behind it.
