Burning Truths

Please take a look at the painting that I created and see what you think… then read my thoughts.

This painting is about the sexual harassment which women are facing in day-to-day life. I actually made this painting when the number of harassment cases was  high, but now it has increased even more.

This piece confronts the harsh reality of sexual harassment and the failure of justice. Surrounded by scorched newsprint, the blindfolded figure of justice is violated by red hands , symbolizing silenced victims and a broken system that ignores their cries. A powerful call to acknowledge what society tries to burn away.

Around her, I’ve used torn newspaper pieces - burnt at the corners.

Because that’s what happens to their pain.

A woman’s pain becomes news.
For a day.
Maybe two.

And then… it disappears.

That is why I burnt the edges , to show how quickly society lets these realities fade away, as if they never mattered.

Nowadays in India, there is not a single day passing without hearing about sexual harassment cases. I personally, as a girl, feel like… what a curse it is for women to live surrounded by people [ rapists ] like this.

Sometimes I think ,

Why does going outside feel unsafe?
Why do parents hesitate to let their daughters step out freely?
Why has fear become something normal for women?

It’s a feeling that’s hard to explain…

Being scared to live freely in your own country.
